Our financial advice and guidance service can help with the following:

  • Applying for supplementary or preventive social assistance
  • Seeking financial assistance for funeral expenses
  • Requesting a discount or a waiver on customer fees
  • Dealing with a drop in income due to illness, unemployment or separation from a partner
  • Consultations with the authorities
  • Over-the-phone financial advice and guidance related to any of the above

We employ a team of professionals who can talk you through any financial issues you might be experiencing. We can give you advice and guidance on the phone, or refer you to the correct service provider. We can also assess the urgency of your situation. The next steps depend on your personal circumstances, and you may be invited to a face-to-face meeting.

We also provide consultancy to other professionals.

If you are already a client of social services, just get in touch with your case worker. See our website for more detailed, service-specific contact information.

How does it work?

If you are calling about social assistance, please make sure that you have first submitted an application for basic social assistance to Kela or that you have received a decision on your claim for the month in question.

If you are seeking financial assistance for funeral expenses, you will need to fill in an application for supplementary or preventive social assistance using the contact information of the deceased and include the estate administrator’s contact details as well as the following supporting documents:

  • Bank statements showing the balance on all of the bank accounts of the deceased on the date of their death
  • Most recent pre-completed tax return
  • Cost estimate from the funeral home OR unpaid bills from the funeral home and the church
  • Estate inventory (if available)

You can also seek financial assistance and advice for settling the estate and drawing up the estate inventory from your local Legal Aid Office.

Who is it for?

This service is primarily designed for people who live or have a residence in Hyvinkää, Järvenpää, Nurmijärvi, Mäntsälä, Pornainen or Tuusula in the wellbeing services county of Central Uusimaa.
