Rescue services

Rescue services are responsible for accident prevention, rescue operations, preparedness and civil defence.

Accident prevention, rescue operations, preparedness and civil defence in Central Uusimaa are coordinated by the Central Uusimaa Rescue Department. The Central Uusimaa Rescue Department operates across two wellbeing services counties: the wellbeing services county of Central Uusimaa and the wellbeing services county of Vantaa and Kerava.

Rescue services are responsible for the following:

  • Rescue operations
  • Pre-hospital emergency medical care
  • Preparedness
  • Accident prevention
  • Public safety
  • Structural fire safety and land use control
  • Event security
  • Safety training and education
  • Safety-related communications
  • Volunteer coordination
