There has been a hazardous material accident in Kolsantie, Jokela. Hydrochloric acid has leaked out from the container of a truck.

Danger distance from the accident site is 150 meters. Passing symptoms such as irritation may still occur outside that distance.

Exposure to hydrochloric acid fumes may cause immediate health effects. Adverse effects are usually caused by prolonged exposure. Hydrochloric acid fume is a physical exposure agent that may cause irritation of the respiratory tract or the skin and stinging of the eyes. If you have been exposed to hydrochloric acid fumes, it’s important to start first aid as soon as possible.

Exposure of the respiratory tract: Move into fresh air and take a deep breath. If troubles with breathing persist or get worse, seek immediate medical attention.

Exposure of the eyes: Rinse the eyes with lots of water for at least 15 minutes. If you are using contact lenses, remove them.

Exposure of the skin: Wash the skin with water and soap.

If the symptoms persist, seek medical attention at emergency department of Keusote in JUST, Järvenpää. Treatment will be administered in accordance with the symptoms.
